The Black Block | GMU Homecoming 2026

Our founder, Tiara J., led the planning and execution of the GMU Black Alumni Chapter’s signature Homecoming tailgate, The Black Block, including the launch of Legacy Lane, a space highlighting Black alumni entrepreneurs and local small businesses.

When severe weather forced a full indoor pivot less than 24 hours before the event, she led rapid coordination across partners, vendors, and volunteers to successfully reimagine the experience.

The result was a warm, high-energy gathering rooted in community, culture, and connection — proving that strong event leadership is about adapting with intention and delivering impact no matter the circumstances.
